More than 60 SHARE working group members, Notification Service prototype participants, technical partners, and other interested parties gathered in Crystal City, Virginia, in mid-October for a two-day meeting. The event offered an opportunity for SHARE stakeholders to confer face to face for the first time; to take a deeper look at the Notification Service prototype; to discuss challenges and opportunities as SHARE moves to its next phase of development; and to help refine the story SHARE has to tell as its rollout expands.

Planning is underway for a second meeting to be held in mid-2015.
SHARE (SHared Access Research Ecosystem) is a higher education and research community initiative to ensure the preservation of, access to, and reuse of research outputs. SHARE aims to develop the infrastructure, workflow, and policy improvements necessary to maximize research impact. The Association of Research Libraries (ARL), the Association of American Universities (AAU), and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) have partnered to develop SHARE with significant input from the three associations’ member institutions and their broader communities. SHARE is funded, in part, by grants from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
