
The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) seeks a hands-on leader to serve as senior director, Finance and Administration. This is a career opportunity to be responsible for an international association’s financial, administration, and grants management. Reporting to the executive director, the successful incumbent will engage with the ARL Board Finance and Audit Committees and manage the Association’s financial and business relationships. This is a unique opportunity to set up ARL’s new office in the DC business district.
The successful candidate will join a strong and collaborative team from across the United States committed to the Association’s mission to empower and advocate for research libraries and archives to shape, influence, and implement institutional, national, and international policy; and to develop the next generation of leaders and enable strategic cooperation among partner institutions to benefit scholarship and society.
Founded in 1932, the Association of Research Libraries was established by the directors of 42 major university and research libraries in Canada and the United States. Since its founding, ARL membership has grown to include 127 major research institutions, welcoming four new members since 2021. ARL’s highly engaged member libraries make up a large portion of the university and research library marketplace, spending more than $1.4 billion annually on information resources and actively developing new models of scholarly communications.
