Purdue University has appointed Sunil Prabhakar interim director of Purdue Libraries and Information Studies, effective January 2025.
Prabhakar is vice provost for faculty affairs. His research lies in the area of data management and security, with a focus on developing novel database systems for managing probabilistic or uncertain data, and ensuring authenticity and integrity of outsourced databases. He joined Purdue in 1998 and served as head of the Computer Science Department starting in 2010, and briefly as the inaugural director of the Integrative Data Science Initiative in 2019.
