Big news continues to spread from Washington State University (WSU). Earlier this week, Trevor Bond, who served as interim dean of WSU Libraries for the past year, was installed in the role permanently. Trevor’s appointment began September 1; he will continue leading the University Libraries across all WSU campuses.
While Trevor is new to this role, he certainly is no stranger to WSU. For two decades, Trevor has held leadership roles at WSU, which include associate dean for digital initiatives and special collections, co-director of the Center for Digital Scholarship and Curation, and director of the David G. Pollart Center for Arts and Humanities. He has helped steer over $4 million in grants and private funds, which has been instrumental in expanding digitization and publishing efforts, and developing strategic partnerships with Native American tribal communities.
As interim dean, Trevor led the development of a new unit-level strategic planning process, helped establish two new endowments, and collaborated with the Office of the Provost to move the university’s academic publisher, WSU Press, into the libraries. He also created an open access project to support scholarly publishing.
Trevor earned his PhD in public and western history from WSU and has advanced degrees in information science and ancient history from UCLA.
