Position Summary
Reporting to the Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Librarian, the Undergraduate Instruction Librarian supports core instruction and research programs geared towards incoming undergraduate students. This three year time-limited position is responsible for scheduling incoming instruction requests, designing, and delivering information literacy sessions to the First Year Writing Program in collaboration with course instructors and provides supporting research consultations. The Undergraduate Instruction Librarian collaborates with teammates to train and mentor graduate instructors from the School of Information and Library Science. Additionally, this position engages undergraduate students by participating in established outreach events and collaborating with key campus partners.

This position is primarily on-site and requires occasional nights and weekends. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master’s or Bachelor’s and 0-2 years’ experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
Experience teaching or providing library instruction and providing user-centered research services.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
Familiarity with instructional technologies and online learning platforms.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Coursework in Education
Experience working with high school students or first-year students

Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Ability to work occasional nights and weekends
Ability to move office and event supplies, with or without accommodations

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
