ARL membership is by invitation upon the recommendation of the ARL Board of Directors and approval by vote of the membership at a business meeting. Membership is extended to research libraries sharing common values, goals, and interests. The membership process includes a review of potential members in light of ARL’s current principles and follows a set of procedures to ensure a systematic and thorough review prior to any recommendation. Research libraries interested in becoming a member of ARL should contact Sue Baughman, ARL deputy executive director.
The Membership Overview provides information for prospective members on how ARL helps research library leaders connect, collaborate, and contribute to the research ecosystem.
