In the face of dramatic actions by the Trump administration to restructure the US scientific enterprise, ARL joined with association colleagues in the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL); the Association of University Presses (AUPresses); the International Association of Scientific, Technical & Medical Publishers (STM); and the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) to elevate shared principles of support for scientific integrity, defense of the scholarly record, and concern about political interference in the scholarly communication process.

ARL is deeply focused on the issue of declining public trust in knowledge institutions. While these groups may have their disagreements, research libraries, academic publishers, and their associations play an indispensable role in supporting and safeguarding the integrity of an independent scientific and scholarly record.
