The ARL Leadership Fellows Program (LFP) Task Force has chosen 25 fellows for the 2025 LFP cohort, based on recommendations from the LFP Selection Working Group.

The LFP is a 13-month hybrid experience designed to prepare the next generation of senior and executive leaders in research libraries and archives. The fellows develop the knowledge, awareness, skills, and attitudes necessary for innovative and successful leadership of complex organizations by participating in a multifaceted curriculum, peer and individual mentoring, self-assessment, executive coaching, and site visits.

“I was impressed by the passion and thoughtfulness the applicants expressed regarding their hopes and dreams for leading a research library in the future,” said Clem Guthro, university librarian and interim director and publisher, University of Hawaiʻi Press, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and ARL Leadership Fellows Program Selection Working Group member.

“Reviewing this year’s applications was both energizing and inspiring,” said Scott Hollander, chief of staff, director of Communications, and associate university librarian for Distinctive Collections at University at Buffalo Libraries and LFP Selection Working Group member. “The candidates represented a broad spectrum of perspectives and aspirations, united by a shared commitment to leadership, learning, and service. Engaging with their stories reminded me of the depth of talent within our field and the promise it holds. As a recent graduate of the Leadership Fellows Program, serving on the selection working group reaffirmed my confidence that the future of research libraries is in capable and visionary hands.”

“It was a joy to see how many people in our community are committed to values-centered leadership!” said Daniel Chamberlain, associate dean of Libraries, Research and Digital Strategies, Dartmouth Libraries, and LFP Selection Working Group member. “In the face of unprecedented challenges to the promise of higher education, to libraries as trusted institutions, and to the foundations of information as a public good, the applicants to this year’s ARL Leadership Fellows Program demonstrate deep experience, broad perspective, and a commitment to guiding the academic research library community into our uncertain shared future.”
