The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) seeks a passionate and experienced individual with a proven record of effectively working with senior and executive leaders to help ensure the quality and enhance the experiences of ARL’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and Learning programs. This is a unique role for someone looking to make a difference in leading and shaping the research library profession. As part of the ARL staff and in consultation with the Association’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, the incumbent is responsible for actively contributing to the design, delivery, and assessment of all of ARL’s Leadership & Transformation programs, which include four cohort programs as well as various in-person events (such as meetings, institutes, conferences); providing tools and resources to advance the Association’s DEI and Learning goals; and operationalizing efforts to actualize and measure the Association’s impact related to DEI.

The director works closely with the chair and vice-chair of the ARL DEI Committee along with the Leadership & Transformation team—senior director; director, Learning; and senior program manager—and with other members of the ARL community.

This full-time position can be remote (based in the US); ARL has physical office space in Washington, DC, that is available to the director, DEI. ARL has a mobile-first strategy based on remote work with in-person attendance expected, as determined by ARL, at events such as Association, Board, and staff meetings; conferences; institutes; and Learning & Transformation programs. The salary is anticipated to be US$135,000; ARL offers generous benefits.
