Brenda Johnson Named Library Director and University Librarian at U Chicago

The University of Chicago has appointed Brenda L. Johnson as library director and university librarian for a five-year term starting January 1, 2015. Johnson currently serves as the Ruth Lilly dean of university libraries at Indiana University Bloomington, a position she has held since March 2010. She also serves on the ARL Advancing Scholarly Communication Steering Committee. As library director and university librarian at Chicago, Johnson will succeed Judith Nadler, who retired on June 30, 2014, after 48 years with the University of Chicago Library and 10 years as director. Alice Schreyer, associate university librarian for area studies and special collections, is serving as interim director.
