Indiana University (IU) Bloomington has appointed Carolyn Walters as the Ruth Lilly Dean of University Libraries, effective January 8, 2015, subject to the approval of the IU Board of Trustees at its February meeting. Walters has served as executive associate dean of the IU Libraries since 2005. She also became the founding executive director of the IU Office of Scholarly Publishing in 2012. Since 1987, Walters has held several positions with the IU Libraries, including interim Ruth Lilly Dean of University Libraries in 2009–2010. As dean of libraries, Walters succeeds Brenda Johnson, who was appointed University of Chicago library director and university librarian starting January 1, 2015, after five years as dean at IU.
