UC Santa Barbara (UCSB) has appointed Alan Grosenheider as acting university librarian, effective July 1, 2017. Grosenheider has served as deputy university librarian at UCSB since August 2012.
The university is conducting a search for a successor to Denise Stephens, who stepped down June 2, 2017, to accept the position of vice provost and university librarian at Washington University in St. Louis. Stephens led the UC Santa Barbara Library since July 2011.
