The Ohio State University Board of Trustees voted November 21, 2019, to approve a faculty rule change recommended by the University Senate to rename the title of director of libraries to dean of libraries. Damon Jaggars, now vice provost and dean of University Libraries at Ohio State, has led the libraries since February 2016. According to Ohio State, “The title change acknowledges University Libraries as a tenure-initiating unit within the university and Jaggars’ leadership of a dynamic group of faculty.”

Jaggars is active in the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), currently serving as chair of the ARL Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and as a member of the ARL Digital Scholarship Institute Advisory Group and of the TOME Advisory Board. He was an ARL Leadership Fellow in 2004–2006.

For more information about Jaggars and his title change, see the November 21, 2019, Ohio State University Libraries news story, “Board Approves Leadership Title Change for University Libraries.”
