Duke University has named Dracine Hodges interim university librarian, effective May 15, 2022. Hodges has served as associate university librarian for Technical Services since 2018, after joining Duke University Libraries in 2016 as head of Technical Services.

A member of Duke University Libraries’ senior leadership team, Hodges provides administrative leadership for Technical Services, which supports the collections life cycle and includes oversight of Conservation Services, Continuing Resource Acquisitions, Metadata and Discovery Strategy, Monograph Acquisitions, and Resource Description.

Prior to joining Duke, Hodges was a tenured associate professor and head of the Acquisitions Department at The Ohio State University. She has published several book chapters and peer-reviewed articles related to collection development models and diversity in libraries.

Hodges is a 2021–2022 Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Leadership Fellow and was a 2013–2014 ARL Leadership and Career Development Program (LCDP) Fellow.

At Duke, Hodges will serve as interim university librarian while the university searches for a successor to Deborah Jakubs, who will retire May 15, 2022, after leading the libraries since 2005.

For more information about this transition, see the Duke news release “Dracine Hodges Appointed Interim University Librarian.”
