The ARL Leadership and Career Development Program (LCDP) Selection Committee has chosen 24 fellows for the 2020–2021 LCDP cohort. The LCDP is a yearlong program to prepare mid-career librarians from historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups to take on leadership roles in their careers and in the profession at large. The LCDP addresses the lack of representation of Blacks, Indigenous people, other people of color (BIPOC), and visible minorities in leadership ranks within academic and research institutions and other communities of practice.
The ARL LCDP helps research libraries and archives develop a more diverse professional workforce and leadership that can contribute to library success in serving the research, teaching, and learning of increasingly diverse scholarly and learning communities. This is accomplished, in part, by providing LCDP fellows with meaningful exposure to the major strategic issues that are shaping the future of research institutions.

The group reflected a wide-variety of emerging talent in the field and I look forward to seeing how these colleagues will impact the profession in years to come,” said LCDP Selection Committee member Lisa Carter. “While this made selection a fascinating challenge, this year’s cohort of fellows are positioned to have an amazing experience together.”
