James O’Donnell Named University Librarian at Arizona State

Arizona State University (ASU) has appointed James J. O’Donnell as university librarian and as a professor in the School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, effective February 3, 2015. O’Donnell served as provost and professor of classics at Georgetown University for a decade, after a career at Bryn Mawr, Cornell, and the University of Pennsylvania. As university librarian at ASU, O’Donnell will succeed Sherrie Schmidt, who retired on June 30, 2014, after more than 20 years as university librarian.
