Jessica Andrade Named Associate Director of Board and Member Relations for ARL

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jessica Andrade as associate director of Board and member relations, effective April 1, 2020. Andrade is currently the associate director of governance at the American Psychological Association, whose mission is to advance the creation, communication, and application of psychological knowledge to benefit society and improve people’s lives.

At ARL, Andrade will be responsible for Board of Directors planning and administration, member relations, and working with the executive director in delivering membership value. She will organize and manage meetings, materials, and outreach to the Board and Board committees; support member engagement in the work of the Association; and contribute to the development of a trusting and inclusive culture that reinforces ARL norms and values, including the Code of Conduct.

At the American Psychological Association (APA), Andrade serves as the primary staff liaison to the APA Board of Educational Affairs (BEA), whose primary responsibility is recommending and monitoring the implementation of educational policy standards and guidelines for APA, to the Board of Directors and the Council of Representatives. In this role, Andrade conducts research on issues in psychology and education and training to develop agenda items for the BEA, the APA Board of Directors, and the Council of Representatives. Additionally, she is responsible for tracking initiatives and issues relevant to the work of the BEA and the APA Education Directorate that are ongoing both within APA and the broader psychology education and training community. Andrade holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas.
