Iowa State University (ISU) appointed Joyce Garnett as interim dean of the university library, effective in September 2014. Garnett is university librarian emeritus at Western University in Ontario, Canada. She retired as university librarian at Western in 2013 after 15 years there. Garnett is serving as interim dean at ISU while a search is conducted to replace Olivia Madison, who stepped down on September 1, 2014, after 17 years as dean. In September, Madison joined the ISU provost’s office as a special assistant supporting the university’s Higher Learning Commission accreditation review. Following that assignment, on December 1, she began an administrative leave prior to returning to the ISU library faculty.
