Julie Mosbo Ballestro Appointed Interim Dean of University Libraries at Texas A&M University

Texas A&M University has named Julie Mosbo Ballestro interim dean of University Libraries, beginning July 1, 2021.

Mosbo Ballestro has served as associate dean for administration and faculty services at Texas A&M University Libraries since January 2020. Previously she was interim director of Cushing Memorial Library & Archives and director of preservation for the University Libraries. Prior to joining Texas A&M, she was a preservation librarian at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

A clinical associate professor at Texas A&M, Mosbo Ballestro holds a certificate of advanced study in preservation administration from The University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in library and information studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She earned her bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Central Arkansas.

Mosbo Ballestro will serve as interim dean while Texas A&M searches for a successor to David Carlson, who will step down in June and will retire on September 1, after serving as dean since 2012.
