Florida State University (FSU) has named Katie McCormick interim dean of University Libraries, effective May 9. This announcement follows the retirement of Gale Etschmaier this month, after serving as dean of FSU Libraries since 2018.
Katie has served as the associate dean of FSU Special Collections and Archives since December 2011. She has represented FSU Libraries in community partnerships and donor relations, including as a partner in the John G. Riley Center and Museum Board and recent IMLS grant to digitize their archives. She led the Special Collections and Archives team through a collection recovery, transfer, and storage plan with Iron Mountain after a nearly catastrophic flood on December 25, 2022, and demonstrated extraordinary leadership and compassion during the tragic shooting on campus on April 17, 2025.
