Today the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) released LibQUAL as a standalone open-source application, freely available for any person or entity who wants to use it.

LibQUAL is a web-based survey to help libraries assess and improve library services, change organizational culture, and market the library.

The LibQUAL software allows users to set up a survey, administer it through a web interface, and store results for analysis.

The open-source application is provided as is, and ARL will not provide ongoing support or updates to the software.

In addition, ARL separately provides the questions from the LibQUAL survey instrument that can be input into any survey platform of choice (such as Qualtrics).

ARL is grateful to the library assessment community and the many users of the LibQUAL service from its inception in 2000 to its sunset in 2025. That gratitude led ARL to put the tool back in the hands of those who helped make it a flagship evaluation product.
