Lisa Carter Named Vice Provost for Libraries at University of Wisconsin–Madison

University of Wisconsin (UW)–Madison has appointed Lisa R. Carter as vice provost for libraries, effective August 1, 2018.

Carter is currently associate director of special collections and area studies at The Ohio State University Libraries. Previously, she served as head of the Special Collections Research Center at NCSU Libraries (2007–2011) and director of archives at University of Kentucky Libraries (2005–2007). Carter was also an Association of Research Libraries (ARL) visiting program officer (2009–2014) and an ARL Leadership Fellow (2007–2008).

At UW–Madison, Carter will succeed Ed Van Gemert, who is retiring in May 2018 (see page 20 of PDF), after leading the libraries for six years.
