Mark Newton Named University Librarian for Boston University

Boston University (BU) has appointed Mark Newton university librarian, effective June 2023. He has held the role in an interim capacity since July 2021.

Newton previously served as BU’s associate university librarian for Digital Strategies and Innovations, beginning in June 2019. Prior to going to BU, Newton was director of Digital Scholarship at Columbia University Libraries, after serving as digital collections librarian at Purdue University.

At BU, Newton succeeds ARL Past President K. Matthew Dames, who became the Edward H. Arnold University Librarian at University of Notre Dame in August 2021.
