Mark P. Newton Appointed Interim University Librarian for Boston University

Boston University (BU) has named Mark P. Newton interim university librarian, effective July 16, 2021.

Newton has served as BU’s associate university librarian for Digital Strategies and Innovations since June 2019. Prior to going to BU, Newton was director of Digital Scholarship at Columbia University Libraries, after serving as digital collections librarian at Purdue University.

Newton will serve as interim university librarian while BU searches for a successor to ARL Vice President/President-Elect K. Matthew Dames, who will begin his new role as the Edward H. Arnold University Librarian at University of Notre Dame on August 1, 2021.
