Preservation Statistics

Sixty-two cultural heritage institutions participated in the pilot FY 2012 Preservation Statistics Survey, a project of the Preservation and Reformatting Section (PARS) of the American Library Association (ALA) and the Association of Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS). All cultural heritage institutions—libraries, museums, archives, historical societies—in the United States with preservation activities were invited to complete the pilot version of the survey, which was open from April to August 2013. The FY 2012 Preservation Statistics Report provides analysis of the survey results, including an examination of preservation trends in academic and research libraries from 2007 to 2012 based on statistics supplied by the 34 Association of Research Library (ARL) members who participated in the pilot survey. The FY 2013 data collection is now open through April 15, 2014.
