Simon Neame Named Dean of Libraries at University of Massachusetts Amherst

The University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst has appointed Simon J. Neame as dean of libraries, effective August 1, 2016. Neame is currently associate university librarian and director of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Library. Additionally, he participated in the 2013–2015 ARL Leadership Fellows program. At UMass, Neame will succeed Jay Schafer, who will retire August 1, 2016, after serving as director of libraries since May 2005 and interim director from January 2004 until he was named director.
