
Beginning July 1, Tamara Sumner is the interim dean of University Libraries at the University of Colorado (CU) Boulder. Her appointment follows Robert McDonald’s transition to the University of Texas at Austin.
Since joining CU Boulder, Tamara served as the director of the Institute of Cognitive Science (ICS) and professor in computer and cognitive science. She has led an interdisciplinary research and development lab that studies how computational tools can improve teaching practice, learning outcomes, and learner engagement in STEM fields. And, accordingly, she has published extensively on human-computer interaction, educational technology, digital libraries, and intelligent systems.
Tamara’s academic background includes a bachelor of science in earth science, a bachelor of arts in computer science and information science, and a master and doctorate in computer science.
