Charles D. Eckman has been named dean of libraries at University of Miami (UM), effective December 1, 2013. Eckman is currently dean of library services and university librarian at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada. At UM he will succeed William D. Walker, who served as dean of libraries from 2003 through May of this year when he stepped down to rejoin the faculty.
