CoGenerate: ARL President’s Institute 2025

What does “cogenerate” mean?

“Co” means “together” in Latin. Think collaboration, connection, community. We define cogeneration as a strategy to bring older and younger people together to forge bonds across differences, combat polarization and ageism, and help solve today’s toughest problems.

What do young leaders want—and not want—from older allies? And vice versa?

Join your colleagues for Ignite Collaboration: Thriving Multigenerational Libraries, February 12–13, 2025, in Chicago-Rosemont, Illinois.

You will leave with resources and a plan for how to bring multigenerational collaboration to your library.

About the President’s Institute

The President’s Institute seeks to provide opportunities for participation by ARL member institutions and others in our field each year during the start of the ARL presidency. One of the ARL Institutes, this interactive event convenes a broad community of individuals, subject-matter experts, middle managers, senior leaders, and general executives from ARL libraries and beyond on top-of-mind issues facing research libraries. As part of the President’s Institute, the Julia C. Blixrud Scholarship recipient is selected, attends, and writes a report on the institute to be published by ARL.
