Matrix management has been used in research libraries since the early 1990’s and the literature addresses the pros and cons of using this type of structure. There are a number of factors that lead to the successful deployment of matrix management. Geneva Henry, Dean of Libraries and Academic Innovation at George Washington University leads a discussion about how matrix management is being used to implement changes in programs and services and create a vibrant organization where people are excited to work.
