Advancing Diversity, Inclusion, and Equality: University of Rochester

by Mary Ann Mavrinac | Vice Provost and Andrew H. and Janet Dayton Neilly Dean of River Campus Libraries | on March 1, 2016

River Campus Libraries is following the lead of the president of the University of Rochester, who appointed a Presidential Commission on Race and Diversity We have offered to host events, such as focus group meetings, in our capacity as an open, neutral setting.

We are also in the beginning stages of developing a program within the libraries to mentor and encourage our underrepresented minority library student employees to consider library and information science as a profession. We hope to roll out this program in the fall of 2016. This responds to the need for our workforce to be reflective of our student population. Understandably, this is a long-term strategy.
