Established in 1997, the ARL Leadership and Career Development Program (LCDP) remains a unique program in the library and information science field, focusing on people of color employed in academic and research libraries and archives. The 2018–2019 class of LCDP Fellows concludes the ninth iteration of this transformative program. This session includes reflections from the perspectives of the participants and an alumna of the program who serves as a career coach. Future plans for the program will be discussed with respect to its design and its place within the ARL portfolio in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

What is decolonization and what does it mean in the context of research libraries and their collections? Join this panel as they share ways they are addressing such issues as reimagining the scholarly use of collections in communities and what authority looks like; creating terminology and description that fits with an Indigenous worldview; and how all of this impacts the research process. Panelists will also describe some challenges yet to be addressed and what allies look like for Indigenous communities.
