Supporting Mental and Emotional Health for Ourselves and Others
Last Updated on May 18, 2023, 1:09 pm ET
The ARL Fall Forum 2022 was held Thursday, October 20, in both in-person and virtual formats at The Dupont Circle Hotel, located at 1500 New Hampshire Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036. The Fall Forum took place 8:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. EDT for in-person attendees and noon–6:00 p.m. for virtual attendees. The morning included a workshop focused on mindfulness.
For many, pandemic uncertainties and operational-level decision-making have been constant and preoccupying, and the ongoing pressure has taken a toll on our mental health. In these circumstances, how do we preserve our own mental health as leaders while also looking out for our teams and the communities we serve? The focus at the 2022 Fall Forum provided an opportunity for a strategic discussion on mental health in a pandemic-informed environment.
At this public, hybrid event, attendees heard from experts, scholars, and leading innovators about mental health with a focus on the workplace, the community, students, and equity-deserving groups. This event provided insight into how we can shape practices and programs that support various aspects of mental health in a research library environment. We hope participants were inspired to consider how an emphasis on balance and wellness can transform our institutions and support the long-term success of our teams and leaders.
Our partners at EBSCO Information Services hosted a Fall Forum Reception for in-person attendees on the evening of Wednesday, October 19, 6:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m. All registered in-person attendees were cordially invited to attend.
