Save the dates and plan to join us for the 181st Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Meeting on Tuesday–Wednesday, October 18–19, 2022, at The Dupont Circle Hotel, located at 1500 New Hampshire Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036. The meeting will focus on research libraries and archives as active participants in shaping the local and global research and learning community.
The Fall Program Planning Task Force is hard at work developing a fantastic program for our membership. Over two days, participants will engage with leaders, scholars, and library and archive innovators to learn about and discuss national and broader societal transformations and related opportunities and challenges for their institutions and their collective work as an Association.
Keynote Speakers
Marcia McNutt, President of the US National Academy of Sciences
Marcia McNutt, president of the US National Academies of Sciences, will kick off the meeting as the opening keynote speaker. McNutt will speak about the greatest challenges we face, and what academic institutions can do, should do, and perhaps are already doing to help meet those challenges by shaping policy, informing the public, and advancing the pursuit of cross-disciplinary knowledge.
Crosby Kemper, Director of the US Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), and Peter Baldwin, Co-founder of the Arcadia Fund and Professor, New York University (NYU) and UCLA
The closing keynote session will include presentations by Crosby Kemper, director of IMLS, and Peter Baldwin, co-founder of the Arcadia Fund and a professor of the historical development of the modern state. This session will provide participants with an opportunity to hear from leaders discussing the advancements they are focused on making as they relate to societal needs at this pivotal point, the critical opportunities/changes to dig into now, and the potential barriers.
