Valerie Hotchkiss Appointed University Librarian at Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt University has named Valerie Hotchkiss university librarian, effective August 1, 2016. Hotchkiss is currently the Andrew S. G. Turyn endowed professor and director of the Rare Book & Manuscript Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she is also a professor of medieval studies and library science. At Vanderbilt, she will succeed Connie Vinita Dowell, who retired July 31, 2014, after five years as dean of libraries. Associate dean of libraries Joseph (Jody) Dale Combs Jr. has served as interim dean since August 1, 2014.
