SPEC Survey Webcast on Outreach and Engagement

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) is offering a series of webcasts that present the findings from the latest SPEC surveys and allow webcast participants to discuss trends with the survey authors. A 45-minute webcast will follow the publication of each SPEC Kit in 2018.

 The next webcast in this series will cover the Outreach and Engagement survey (SPEC Kit 361), which gathered information about types of activities, which populations are served, levels of funding and staff support for these activities, program planning, collaborations and strategic partnerships, and assessment measures and reporting practices. In addition, survey respondents were asked to provide a brief case study for an outreach or engagement activity in their organization.

The webcast will review survey findings reported by ARL member libraries in July 2018. The authors will:

• Highlight the wide variety of definitions of and approaches to outreach at ARL member institutions
• Discuss commonalities and differences in the way in which ARL member institutions plan for, coordinate, and assess outreach activities
• Identify both areas of success and areas for growth in programmatic outreach approaches

The webcast will also include a discussion of promising trends and conclude with a question and answer session. Read the freely available SPEC Kit 361 in advance and have your questions ready.
