The ARL Intensive Learning Program (ILP) is an eight-month hybrid experience that explores operational aspects of senior-leader portfolios in research libraries and archives as well as responsibilities related to managing those portfolios. The ILP strengthens strategic thinking and decision-making skills to ensure effective leadership of research libraries in a time of rapid, continuous change. Participants will experience opportunities to enhance leadership qualities—including integrity, compassion, and collegiality—as they develop their leadership skills.
The Intensive Learning Program engages fellows in the following components over an eight-month period:
- Virtual orientation
- Monthly three-hour virtual educational sessions
- In-person education and community session and attendance at the ARL Fall 2023 Association Meeting
- In-person ARL Learning Summit
- Virtual small-group coaching sessions with a focus on leadership and diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Reviewing scholarly & practice literature, podcasts, videos, and other resources
The ILP is supported by the ILP Task Force and ILP Selection Working Group.
