CDS offers a range of reference, consulting, and instructional services to the users and creators of these collections. CDS encompasses four major areas: Digital Scholarship Services; Electronic Resources and Acquisitions; Cataloging, Metadata, and Preservation Services; and Special Collections and University Archives. CDS endeavors to build strong partnerships, within the UO Libraries and with regional partners, to be a leader in advancing practice, and to contribute with increasing effectiveness to local, regional, and international resource collection and curation efforts.   Position Summary This Electronic Resources Acquisitions Specialist (Library Technician 3) position is responsible for a broad set of assignments related to ordering, acquiring, and maintaining access to electronic resources, including ordering, renewing, and maintaining electronic journal packages; reconciling changes in publishers/vendors for ongoing online titles within packages; and assisting with renewals of other e-resources. This position also verifies that invoices are correct for payment, activates resources, sets up and monitors the auto-update of collections, maintains access and holdings information, works with vendors, and provides a bridge point for personnel from various units to shepherd e-resources through successive workflow steps.   Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every qualification in the job description including the preferred qualifications.   • Bachelor's degree plus two years of current (within 5 years) experience in a Library; OR,
 
  • 4 years of current library experience;
 
  • AND, advanced proficiency in multiple library-specific computer applications, e.g., integrated library systems, database applications, institutional repository; content management systems.
  Some positions may also require in-depth knowledge of specialty area(s), e.g., original cataloging, complex copy cataloging, serials management, ILL management, government documents, image resources, music.   Professional Competencies
