maDMP Project Manager


The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) seeks an exceptional colleague to advance institutional coordination around machine-actionable data management plans. This is a two-year, full-time, grant-funded position in collaboration with the California Digital Library (CDL). It is a remote position. The project manager will be a member of ARL’s Scholars and Scholarship team, which advances a portfolio of science policy and institutional initiatives to achieve equitable and barrier-free access to information and support new forms of scholarship. This position presents a unique opportunity to work with leading research libraries to develop professional practice, in close collaboration with higher education, to advance public access to research data. The project manager, working closely with colleagues at CDL, will coordinate a cohort of four institutions exploring the adoption and institutional integration of machine-actionable data management plans (maDMP). The project manager will report to the ARL Director of Science Policy and Scholarship, and will work closely with ARL committees and CDL team members.


Major Responsibilities

  • Pilot Coordination & Implementation
  • Act as the primary liaison for maDMP pilot cohorts, ensuring open communication and engagement.
  • Conduct virtual meetings for updates, feedback collection, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with the development team for workflow optimization, onsite training, and addressing challenges.
  • Prioritize and action enhancements based on feedback from users and the wider community.
  • Deliver periodic status reports on project progress, challenges, and upcoming milestones.
  • Schedule and facilitate regular project meetings, ensuring clear agendas and objectives.
  • Oversee meeting logistics, including venue, tech requirements, and attendee coordination.
  • Document key decisions, action items, and outcomes for future reference.

Documentation & Training

  • Develop and update user guides, FAQs, and technical documentation for maDMP workflow.
  • Design and facilitate training sessions and workshops on maDMP and DMPTool functionalities.
  • Gathering post-training feedback for refinement.
  • Produce multimedia educational resources.

DMPTool Operations

  • Provide technical support to DMPTool administrators and respond to their queries.
  • Partner with technical teams for troubleshooting, system updates, and ensuring feature quality.
  • Collaborate with CDL’s UX team to monitor accessibility compliance in DMPTool features.
  • Onboard new partners and provide ongoing support.
  • Manage funder template updates and compile relevant funder requirements.
  • Track and maintain institutional data policies and funder requirements.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience managing projects across multiple stakeholders
  • Familiarity with research data management and curation
  • A community-engaged mindset
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and/or Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience working with research data management and curation
  • Association, higher education, and/or library experience is a plus
  • Recent MLIS graduates are encouraged to apply

Salary


$72,000 per year
